Have you ever noticed that you may have forgotten to stop to take it all in at each small moment along with the bigger moments of the cycle whether you are in a position of a lull or at the peak of momentum? And when all those smaller moments had passed, you‘re still not fully satisfied even though you may have achieved your goal? If you ever find yourself in this position, you should have signals going off to let you know to slow down and take a look at what you have achieved and everything that had gone into the entire process. You will start respecting and appreciating the path, the people along the path and your own journey along the same path.
I have always been the type of person to be on the go, but in the more recent years I realized that life is full of surprises, lessons, and opportunities - opportunities to be better, to grow, to understand, reflect and for time to appreciate those encounters and self-growth.
In this post, I really wanted to emphasis and talk about savouring the present and what enjoying the process truly means. Courage and perseverance are ingredients to achieving your dreams and goals but patience and surrender will take you places you never knew existed.
Here are a few tips on how to stay present while enjoying the journey to success:
Do one thing at a time: take a deep breath, relax, and refocus on one task, at one moment, at one time.
Remind yourself to stay present and calm: speak out loud and say to yourself what you are doing in the moment you are doing a task. This will allow yourself to stay present rather than trying to master the skill of multitasking every situation and not being able to fully live in the moment.
Go with the flow: although it’s important to plan and to prepare it’s equally important to make the best of the each situation because the reality of things is that it is never going to happen the way we plan for them to happen 99% of the time. So sit back, relax, and surrender because what you are seeking is also seeking you.
Manage your goals and dreams: pick a time to daydream and to do vision boards and all that fun creative juicy stuff when mapping out your future but do it in pockets of dedicated time.
Be grateful for the wonderful things around you: we tend to fail to live in the moment and project ourselves at that peak, then get disappointed when we come crashing down on reality. The truth is that you will get to your destination if you have the dedication and perseverance. So while you are on this path, just enjoy being present and all that it has to offer!
