Your goals for 2020 and how you're going to reach them!
A common goal that I often hear revolves around making money in a NEW career, a dream career. That's exactly what I want to help you do in 2020.
How CAN you make it work?
A few years ago I started an IT Consulting company with a partner and I wasn't entirely happy with where the business was going and I realized I wasn't doing the the things I needed to do in order to reach my goals. I made a new goal that within one year I was going to do consulting on my own, and that the year after I would be in a different place. I didn't know exactly what that was but I knew I wanted to be happier and whatever that looked like I was willing to work hard towards.
I used to be the type of person who made bold decisions and quick decisions - there's nothing wrong with that but now with experience I tend to reflect on my patterns, my choices, and how I can utilize my strengths to my own advantage.
You can hope, visualize, create all these vision boards, but if you don't actually put in the work and carry out the actions to produce the results... nothing is going to happen. (This is also me at times still)
One year, one month, and one day can change everything. It's about your commitment and your decision to make your career happen. Remember, nothing happens over night... sometimes not even for a long time but everything you do to work towards that goal will bring you that much closer. Don't give up!
1. Pick 3 Milestones: these are the 3 things you are going to focus on hitting at every quarter throughout 2020. These 3 things should matter and should be aligned with your main goal.
2. Create the Plan: create a roadmap/plan for you to reach these 3 milestones. Do your research, ask around, understand what it's going to take for you to get to that milestone. Get feedback from your friends, clients, family... and then start jotting down those details. This is where you get to be strategic - more output by you does not equal to better results.
3. Clarity: what is your vision? Are you clear on what it is you want to achieve? Outline where you are in your career at this moment and start visualizing where you need to be. Understand how much money you need to make in order for you to pay your immediate expenses each month. Do you know what your ideal day looks like? What you're going to do each day? What is your morning and night routine?
